Leadership Coaching
$0.00

Dave had been running his plumbing business for fourteen years. Twelve staff. Solid reputation. Work coming in consistently. From the outside it looked like a success story, because it was. From the inside it felt like being slowly buried alive.

He wasn't struggling with the business. He was struggling with being the only person who carried all of it. Every decision, every risk, every awkward conversation with a supplier, every late payment from a customer, every staff problem that no one else wanted to solve. His wife was supportive but she had her own work. His accountant talked numbers. His mates talked rugby. Nobody talked about the weight of it.

When Dave first sat down with John he said he wasn't sure he needed coaching. He was pretty sure he just needed a holiday. John suggested they spend an hour together first before deciding anything. That hour became a very different kind of conversation than Dave expected. Not a performance review. Not goal-setting. Just someone asking the right questions and actually listening to the answers.

What became clear over the next few sessions was that Dave had been making decisions in near-total isolation for so long that he'd lost confidence in his own judgement. Not because his judgement was poor. His track record said the opposite. It was because there was never anyone to think alongside him. No sounding board. No check. No one who would say "have you considered this?" without an agenda attached.

The coaching sessions became a regular rhythm. Agenda-driven but flexible enough to deal with whatever was genuinely pressing. Sometimes that was a strategic question about whether to take on a second van. Sometimes it was working through how to have a performance conversation with a long-serving staff member he'd been avoiding for months. Sometimes it was simply thinking clearly about a situation that had felt murky and overwhelming until someone else was in the room.

Twelve months in, Dave hadn't changed his business dramatically. What had changed was him. His decisions were clearer. He was less reactive. He'd had two of the hard conversations he'd been putting off for years, and both had gone better than he'd feared. He described the difference simply. He said it felt like having a thinking partner instead of being the only person in the room. For a business owner, that turns out to matter more than almost anything.

The RegenerationHQ Products & Services Menu

When working with any business advisor, there are a few things to look for. I’d suggest -

  • how long does it take to identify the true problem to be worked on?

  • how much time will it take to get to a resolution?

  • how much is all this going to cost you?

We worked out some time ago that selling services is a “how long is a piece of string” conversation and we didn’t want to be those people. That’s why what we offer are “custom products”.

What does this actually mean? It means that you get to identify what you want to work on, how long you want to work on it and how much you can afford to pay.

For many people, you know what the issue is, but you don’t know how to deal with it. That’s what the menu is for. But for many others, you may not know exactly.

For you, the preliminary, no fee, no obligation and completely confidential conversation is just the thing. Over a coffee, a beer or a Zoom call, we can talk frankly and openly and see if we can find a way to work together happily.

If we can, great. If RegenerationHQ isn’t for you, that’s all good. We have a unique way of working and it isn’t for everyone.

What Sets Us Apart

You Choose the Pace That Fits

Most advisors arrive with a predetermined timeline. We do the opposite. Whether you need rapid focus through a 5-day intensive or sustained transformation over 12 months, every programme flexes to match your reality. You're not squeezed into our schedule—we build around yours, your cash flow, and how quickly you genuinely need results.

You get to choose who you work with. To help with that choice, consider if these things matter to you -

  • a sense of humour

  • someone who’s been there, done that

  • deeply human and always available

  • quietly reasssuring

  • willing to tell you when you’ve gone off target

  • willing to admit mistakes and fix them

  • honesty and humility

Steady Progress, Not Heroic Theatre

We don't believe in dramatic transformation programs that exhaust everyone and collapse the moment the consultant leaves. Our approach is deliberately steady, honest, and kind. We build change that can be lived on a busy Tuesday, not just celebrated in a boardroom presentation. The goal isn't to impress—it's to make things lastingly better.

Hands-On, Not Hands-Off

We don't parachute in with recommendations and disappear. John gets involved—working alongside your team, understanding the real constraints, and staying until the work actually sticks. You're not getting a report to implement alone. You're getting a thinking partner who shows up, does the work, and helps you navigate the messy reality of change.

Five Things We Always Protect

Every decision we make together is filtered through what matters most: your time, your money, your confidence, your reputation, and your energy. These aren't just nice words—they're active commitments. If a recommendation threatens any of these, we don't make it. Your business gets stronger, and you feel more like yourself, not less.

Do you have a web site and an organic communications strategy that doesn’t quite meet your needs?

Does it tell people exactly who you are and what you do in a way that differentiates you from your competitors? If the answer is no, here’s what we can do for you -

  • an About Us that distinguishes you as unique

  • Narrative “hero” stories that use actual customer experiences to define you
